This public-private partnership is part of the State Department’s Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) initiative to increase innovation around the world, and was launched today at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Morocco. In 2013, the global youth unemployment rate was estimated at 12.6%, or 73 million people.

Parallels between entrepreneurship and parenthood are plentiful. Parenthood, like entrepreneurship, is one of life’s ultimate learning experiences. But that’s what happened: My daughter was born in April 2013; my first gym opened in June 2013. Child development training helped me learn to manage employee emotions.

He didn’t win the global competition that year, but Carlos went on to participate in GSEA in a variety of roles—first as a special guest in the 2013 finals, then as a jury member in the 2015 semi-finals in Thailand and, most recently, as a jury member in the 2017 semifinals in Germany.
