To get the most useful answers, you need to give it as much context as possible. Tip: Put the prompt together in a text editor so you can think it over, edit it, and then copy/paste it into the ChatGPT chat window. ChatGPT doesn't track context across conversations or on a user-by-user basis.

I dictate emails & blog posts often. When drafting an email, I can dictate a response to LLaMA 2, which will then generate a reply using the context from my original email. In which case a long context window doesn’t make sense and I’m left waiting for the system to process.

This CoT process uses tokens, so that's what you pay for through the API, and you can max out the context window. In essence, it's generating a really really long response and then creating a good summary. When you use an o-series model in ChatGPT, you can see a summary of the chain of thought the model is using.
