The transaction announced Tuesday is part of a complex deal that includes Uber investing $75 million into Joby and an expanded partnership between the two companies. The $75 million investment comes in addition to a previously undisclosed $50 million investment made as part of Joby’s Series C financing round in January 2020 , Uber said.

Tier Mobility, the Berlin-based micromobility operator that has been steadily taking over Europe, is making a sweeping entry into North America by acquiring Spin from automaker Ford. Ford, which purchased Spin for $100 million back in 2018 , will maintain a strategic investment in Spin, according to Spin CEO Ben Bear.

Micromobbin’ The North American Bikeshare and Scooter Association released its 2021 shared micromobility state of the industry report — and it has some interesting findings. Trips on e-scooters accounted for 49% of total trips taken on shared micromobility. 63% of riders said they used micromobility to connect to public transit.
