At our mid-year offsite our partnership at Upfront Ventures was discussing what the future of venture capital and the startup ecosystem looked like. Even then private market investors can paper over valuation changes by investing at the same price but with more structure so it’s hard to understand the “headline valuation.”

I was once someone who thought they had to move to the west coast to go to Stanford to become a VC and now who invests in my own backyard.

In fact, thanks to increased scrutiny of investment funds in a post-Madoff world, this imbalance will probably get bigger and bigger. 25 people I've actually placed at companies as part of a message of how I help startups. But crowdfunding investments in startups is the answer to all our worries in life, right?
