There has been little movement in the amount of VC dollars going to women-founded companies since 2012. Though by no means does this mean that women aren’t doing incredible work in the field and it’s only right that women founders receive their fair share of VC investment. Independents are critical to avoiding “VC group think.” Local means more hands-on mentorship. you can build that with your personal peer network. You also cover off this type of experience with most VCs.
