To you, what is an Ecosystem Builder? I see an ecosystem builder as someone who takes a holistic look at creating the conditions for entrepreneurship and innovation to thrive in a community. Direct entrepreneur support is critical but only a part of creating a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem.

As a second-generation Korean American woman and the daughter of immigrant parents, I’ve experienced and witnessed the discrimination and prejudice faced by many diverse women and minorities who come from underserved communities. That summer sparked a revelation that would ignite my passion for entrepreneurship.

Let me start with the obvious baseline that most people probably know instinctively: Los Angeles is the 3rd largest technology startup ecosystem in the US. We don’t seem to get credit as a community for SpaceX or recognition as one of the fastest growing communities for commerce: Honest Company & JustFab.
