Eligible startups compete to win funding, legal support, and mentorship totaling more than $100,000. It provides mentorship, networking, and equity-free grants up to $50,000.

Our last fund we raised was in 2012 and we began investing it in April of 2012. Our 3rd fund began investing in March 2009 (raised in 2008) and our 4th fund started in April 2012 so this fund will naturally begin investing around March / April 2015. Wait, didn’t you just raise a fund? But thank you.

There were a lot of requests for us to turn our mentorship program into a physical accelerator with a fund, office space and full-time staff. Throughout 2012 & 2013 we funded many companies and then pulled together a second fund. Adam & I decided we wanted to return to our roots and focus on mentorship, which is our passion.

There has been little movement in the amount of VC dollars going to women-founded companies since 2012. My first piece of advice is to leverage your own community and support network, especially any mentors and role models you may have, to introduce you to potential investors. Get funded, as a woman.

The first day of 2012 seems the perfect day to do so. A few years ago I started a mentorship organization in Los Angeles called Launchpad LA now run by the uber talented Sam Teller. So in 2012 you’ll see me a lot more often at the Launchpad LA offices. Happy 2012 to all of you. And it’s very Haimish.
