Video pitching. I see an uptick in pitching via pre-recorded video. We used Loom to pre-record our pitch and share it with potential investors. It’s a great way to personalize a pitch deck and share it with interested parties. Investors and consumers prefer businesses that prioritize ecological impact and sustainability.

In addition to the money, the pitch experience they gain, and the business training offered are just as valuable. On June 8, 2023, the BIG IDEA Finale Pitch event was hosted at the University of Pittsburg at Bradford. Eight finalists presented their business concepts to a panel of judges. first appeared on BFTP/CNP.

This is the case when the requirements of these events don’t actually include building a real business or product. Not only that, there’s a hugely disproportionate amount of time spent on pitching for money for these paper ideas. Step #2: Pitch investors. What ever happened to “build it”?

I really wish that the business case for social and ecological startups will finally be proven (kind of like Oatly showed with the Blackstone investment). Ten years ago startups were unusual. It might take you six months to get to know an investor well, so don’t expect a check on the first pitch. In fact, it’s probably easier to get media coverage for your company here than any place else, because you can literally run into a relevant reporter at your average tech event and go for coffee because they work down the street from you.
