There are structural reasons for this, but we can overcome many of these obstacles with appropriate focus and sustained practice.

One of the challenges in turning ecosystem building into a recognized profession is the lack of a recognized definition for what it is and what an ecosystem builder is. This shouldn’t come as a surprise.
