Despite deep local roots in Boston and strong ties to Harvard and MIT, they decided to shut down Ycombinator Cambridge and moved everything to Silicon Valley in January of 2009. There are lots of startup accelerators to help get the company off the ground. But, there is also a lot more competition for attention.
