But 2020 is coming to an end and we want to know: of all of our articles, which are the best of the best? Our machine intelligence, social media, and editors can get us close. But we want that extra special touch that comes from beloved reader feedback.

Judging Criteria

We're judging posts that we see to provide the highest value to industry professionals. Does your article include useful and actionable information? Is it tactical or strategic? Does it provide short- or long-term value? Those are the types of questions our judges will be asking themselves.

PROCESS AND TIMING

Submitting content for consideration

Articles must have been published between October 18th, 2019 and October 13th, 2020 to be eligible.

Nominations are open until October 13th. After that, our panel of judges will review the nominations and narrow them down to a list of finalists for each category.

Voting

Finalists will be announced on November 11th. Once finalists are announced, we will open up voting to our readers. Voting ends on November 23rd. Winners will be announced on December 4th.

Charles Ross

Interim President and CEO, InBia

Over the past 15 years, Charles has worked with communities of various shapes and sizes to build and sustain vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystems. His experience spans across several innovation-related disciplines to include entrepreneurship, business incubation, economic development, and investment management. He has provided strategic leadership for organizations within the public, private, and nonprofit domains and has directly mentored and coached founders/CEOs at over 30 high-growth companies.

Charles joined InBIA as a member in 2006, was elected to its Board of Directors in 2011 and served as Chair in 2017. Charles holds an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Marquette University and an MBA from Indiana University.

Nick Noreña

Innovation Coach and Advisor, Kromatic

Nick Noreña is an innovation coach based out of Berkeley, California, who has spent the last 7 years working in the startup and corporate innovation space. He has worked with over 100 project teams and businesses as a coach, educator, and entrepreneur. Nick specializes in helping early stage startup or corporate teams validate their business ideas. He has worked with companies such as Jaguar Land Rover, IDEO, Walmart, Center for Creative Leadership, Unilever, and the Asian Development Bank. His favorite project in recent memory was co-designing and running a 10-week training program for aspiring startup coaches, investors, and accelerator managers in Vietnam in cooperation with the Innovation Partnership Program. With his remaining hours, Nick volunteers his time in the startup community helping early stage founders validate their business ideas.

Shawn Johal

Entrepreneur, Business Growth Coach, and Leadership Speaker

Shawn co-founded DALS Lighting, an LED lighting business, in 2009. He implemented the Scaling Up Growth System and led the company to 3X its revenues well into the 8-figures. Shawn went on to found Elevation, a business growth coaching and consulting firm, working with entrepreneurs and their teams to help accelerate their growth – while helping them find personal balance and happiness.

Former President of EO (Entrepreneurs’ Organization) Montreal, Shawn remains an active member and mentor to numerous young entrepreneurs, helping them improve as business leaders and as individuals. A Finalist for the EY Entrepreneur of the Year, Shawn also sits on the Board of Directors for “Champions for Life,” a non-profit foundation helping children develop their physical literacy.

A passion for endurance sports and rigorous goal-setting, Shawn is obsessed with high-performance, the pursuit of happiness and the power of mindset to fuel a successful life – and he's committed to bringing his message to the world.
