Celebrating Community, Gratitude & International Coworking Day

By Stormy McBride On August 9, 2023 In CommunityFuture of Work

As I sit down to write this, I am filled with an immense sense of gratitude.

Over the last decade coworking has opened so many doors for us. Literally and metaphorically.

All across the globe we have toured spaces and broken bread with local community catalysts.

We’ve had the pleasure of working alongside and learning from some of the absolute best in the business and the honor of coaching some of those just starting out.

Over the past 10+ years, we’ve seen our industry undergo incredible growth and transformation.

While the pandemic brought remote work challenges to the forefront for the whole world, it also highlighted the importance of alternative workspaces. Coworking spaces and community hubs suddenly took the spotlight.

The past few months have been a whirlwind of connection, exhaustion, growth, and camaraderie but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

Coworking is changing lives one community at a time.

Ours included.

Here at GCUC we are grateful and inspired by the international community we’ve built. Business and personal.

Colleagues and collaborators turned to real life friends.

GCUC in Chicago was a testament to the strength of our industry. Hundreds of coworking owners, operators and enthusiasts in one room, shaping the future of work… and burning it down, after hours. IYKYK.

Having not been back since 2018, our friends in Australia welcomed us back with open arms. The landscape in Australia has changed drastically over the last five years but the sense of innovation and collaboration still stands. Sydney’s coworking spaces are a treasure trove of creativity, each one a unique haven for innovation and collaboration.

Next up on our global tour de coworking is Toronto quickly followed by London. We are excited to bring the community together aging in each of these markets.

The coworking movement is a testament to the potential of human connection. So today we celebrate not just the physical spaces, but the incredible humans inside of them.

Let’s continue to build bridges, break bread, and shape the future of work. Together as an industry we are fundamentally redefining the way the world approaches the workplace experience. Here’s to the workplace hospitality industry.

The spaces are great but the people are better.

Happy International Coworking Day, Y’all.
