Bolder’s Salcedo is Helping Sustainable and Ethical Brands to Align With the Right Influencers

Daniel is an immigrant New Yorker who defines himself as a rare mix of a producer and a serial entrepreneur with a variety of experience and success within the startup scene, including music, tech and video content.

In the last 10 years, Daniel has produced video content for 500 fortune companies, as well as platforms like HBO, Discovery and Netflix. His work has been showcased in Sundance, SXSW and other festivals. During this period, he also co-founded a music licensing business platform “muuseme” that was acquired after 4 years.

In 2018, Daniel fell in love with a mix of video and new technologies like AR and VR. He co-founded eSTYLAR, a startup in the fashion tech space and e-commerce that has been backed by the Microsoft accelerator program, Startup Bootcamp and endeavor.

Daniel’s latest venture is Bolder, the first influencer tech platform built for sustainable and ethical brands. The start-up has been growing very fast — ending 2021 with positive revenue and securing half of its revenue generated the year before entirely in January 2022 by helping sustainable and ethical brands find the right influencers to grow their businesses.

Daniel also hosts a podcast called “ Purposely Local” featuring local brands and business purposes and stories. It’s local and its purpose, all in the same podcast.

What motivated you to launch your startup?

At the beginning of 2021, I started a Podcast called Purposely Local to feature the “why” of small businesses in different parts of the world. As a result, I learned that putting the purpose in front of your customers is something that works really well with consumers. That’s when I dreamed about how I can scale those efforts beyond myself and my podcast. That’s when Bolder Was born. Today for the first time in my life my personal goals and company goals are completely aligned.

What is it that excites you about what you’re building?

Sustainability is the future. It used to be a niche but today it’s part of the fundamental plans of every company no matter the industry.

Every consumer brand that is not sustainable wants to be sustainable and the more we help brands in this space the more we are leading by example.

My dream is to empower the conscious brands and as a result their conscious consumers.

What has been your biggest challenge when growing your startup?

It’s been a process of education to show brands that influencer marketing typically does not generate sales right away. It’s a process and we help brands and influencers to understand that this is like any other relationship , but when you choose your right partner especially based on your values our formula works and we see results faster than expected.

What are your future plans for your startup?

In the future, Influencer marketing will be all sustainable and we will no longer be a sector, we will be the mainstream. This process will happen in the next 5 to 10 years. Our consumer cycle will change, We will not consume for the same reason we consume today and I hope Bolder will help orchestrate a big part of this change.

If you had to share, “words of wisdom,” with a Founder who’s about to start their own startup, what would they be?

Experiment quickly, inexpensively and learn from those results.Repeat, repeat and repeat.

If all founders understand that it is not about the best idea or the best tech, our goal is to solve a problem for a group of customers that is big enough for us to sustain a business and enjoy the process.
