I had the pleasure of interviewing Shakeim Reid, the founder of Serv-U Hub LLC. He is a devoted father of three beautiful children and a loving husband, renowned for his entrepreneurial acumen and distinguished career as an Airport Professional. He is characterized by his warm-hearted nature, demonstrating a genuine concern for the well-being of others.

Possessing a fervent passion for business, Mr. Reid entered the entrepreneurial realm, leveraging his skills and experiences gained over the years. Holding an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Essex County College in Newark, New Jersey, Shakeim Reid has honed his expertise through diverse roles at esteemed organizations.

His professional journey includes notable stints at prominent institutions such as Chase, where he acquired financial literacy; Allied Aviation, where he demonstrated management prowess over a five-year tenure; Rite Aid, where he mastered asset protection, inventory management, report writing, and the implementation of security measures; and Munich, a terminal operator at EWR airport, where he currently serves in the capacity of a systems operator within the baggage handling systems.

What motivated you to launch a startup?

In 2021, I embarked on a venture into the box trucking business, a journey that led to the creation of Serv-U Hub LLC in 2023. My unwavering determination is centered on aiding small businesses in securing visibility on our platform, ensuring they are not overlooked due to a lack of knowledge. I am deeply committed to adapting to and driving change swiftly, embracing the transformative power of change with Serv-U Hub. My dedication to inclusivity and recognition for small businesses is at the heart of what we do.

What excites you about what you’re building?

I harbor a profound passion for the realm of business, a realization that dawned on me over time. As a devoted advocate for collaborative efforts, I believe strongly in the importance of assembling and identifying candidates with a pronounced aptitude for teamwork. I derive satisfaction from the dynamic process of constructing entities that generate revenue and contribute to the nourishment of families. I find gratification in establishing stern foundations, fostering a sense of community, and cultivating a workplace culture characterized by strength and resilience. Building connections with like-minded individuals excites me, recognizing the potential for collaborative efforts from the unity of conscientious minds.

What has been the biggest challenge when growing your startup?

Like any founder, I’ve encountered distinct challenges in my entrepreneurial journey. Currently, my hurdle involves capturing the interest of investors and implementing diverse marketing strategies to establish a foothold in B2B and B2C sectors. I’m in a continuous state of evolution, acquiring new experiences and insights. I am collaborating with a CEO from Slidebean, a company that’s assisting me in achieving investor readiness.

What are your future plans for your startup?

I see myself as a visionary, planning the expansion of SERV-U HUB through the incorporation of additional services to enhance guest satisfaction. My aspirations include establishing supplementary revenue streams, like introducing an in-house fleet for customer use. I aim to secure commercial lots for businesses to park their commercial vehicles and forge strategic partnerships with auction entities to facilitate vehicle resale. I’m exploring opportunities at highway gas stations to better serve traveling customers. Ultimately, my goal is to unlock numerous avenues of opportunity for emerging entrepreneurs.

If you had to share “words of wisdom” with a founder about to start their own startup, what would they be?

I would assert the adage, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” It’s advisable to adopt a deliberate approach: meticulously develop a robust business plan, employ the LEAN methodology for prototyping your product, assemble a proficient team, and establish a supportive network. By adhering to these steps, you can position yourself for success in the business realm.
