I had the pleasure of interviewing Scott Brown the CEO of VRYNT. He is a pretty unique individual in that he is highly technical, but also has successfully exited businesses, and has run companies globally in the web2 and web3 space.

Thank you so much for joining us!

What is VRYNT?

VRYNT is a platform that allows Influencers, Celebrities, and Brands to engage with their fans in a new way. We use NFT’s as the catalyst for that engagement, but we make it fun so the influencer can create an entertainment experience for the fans. We have to start with Entertainment first, giving the fans a reason to interact with their influencer or brand.

That all starts with giving the Brand a platform to interact with their fans, then allowing the fans to contribute their creativity, creating a way for the fans to participate in the economic success of their brand, and finally providing the brand a way to create perpetual value in the assets (NFT’s) they sell.

What motivated you to launch your startup?

I am super passionate about bringing disruptive technologies into real world use cases for mass adoption, especially when it involves empowering communities. You get very few opportunities in life to work on concepts that allow people to make money doing something they love. So when that presents itself, you run at it as fast as you can.

What is it that excites you about what you’re building?

VRYNT is a Fan Economy Platform that is built to match the shifting sentiment of what a consumer is today. People don’t want to just buy something. They want to be connected, be a part of, be recognized for their part in the success of their influencer, celebrity or brand. We offer this new level of engagement and connection, but also facilitate that the audience can economically participate as well.

What has been your biggest challenge when growing your startup?

That is an easy one… Making Web3 simple. Any new set of technology comes with rough edges that only early adopters are willing to suffer. The hardest thing to do is to boil down the messaging and the experience to something simple and easy to use, hiding all the complexity. We nailed that, and it is what we are most proud of.

What are your future plans for your startup?

Expansion!!! These types of viral experiences are powder kegs, and when they take off it is like a rocketship. In that light the most important thing is building the scalable infrastructure so it performs, is safe and secure, and can support these next generation experiences for Influencers and Brands.

If you had to share, “words of wisdom,” with a Founder who’s about to start their own startup, what would they be?

Do not get your directional inspiration from the media, what you quickly find out is that news and media is a view into the past, if you are chasing that, you are building the wrong thing. You must have the confidence and the passion that you are building the place people will find next, and that will not be obvious to most. Also, when people are running scared, that is your signal to build.
