I had the pleasure of interviewing Glenn Ginsburg. Glenn Ginsburg holds the position of President at QYOU Media and launched and runs QYOU’s award winning Influencer Marketing Agency whose client portfolio includes Paramount Pictures, Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, Hasbro, Activision, Capcom, Hyundai and other leading brands. Under Glenn’s leadership QYOU Media has also become the foremost authority on brand engagement on popular short form entertainment platform TikTok.

Ginsburg has an extensive background specializing in digital, social and convergence media and branded entertainment. He has initiated, built and managed digital-focused businesses for media companies including Walt Disney Company, MTV Networks, USA Networks and Marvel Entertainment

Thank you so much for joining us!

What motivated you to launch your startup?

Thank you for having me! I was originally hired to support QYOU’s linear television business and started our influencer/content marketing business as a side project. I realized that I could transform the internal team from a cost center to a revenue producing one while serving the advertising community with cutting edge marketing opportunities. Buoyed by early successes with DreamWorks in support of feature releases including Kung Fu Panda 3, Trolls and others, we decided to launch the business in earnest.

What is it that excites you about what you’re building?

The scale of the business is thrilling in itself; QYOU Media markets to large, mainstream audiences. If done right, social media provides brands with the opportunity to counter fragmentation on traditional entertainment platforms and reach and engage with key audiences to move the needle forward.

We activate top creators for major film studios, streaming platforms and retail brands across multiple platforms, igniting a strong positive social sentiment for the franchise. We consistently deliver results, including millions of organic views, engagements and targeted reach. QYOU’s process of bringing together world-class strategy, creative development and talent selection leads to incredible efficiency when compared to other marketing methods.

What has been your biggest challenge when growing your startup?

The biggest challenge is staying nimble and in front of an ever shifting market to ensure we’re providing our clients with the most innovative and effective campaigns and solutions. This means contending with myriad platforms, algorithms, media, influencer shifts and changes. What works today doesn’t mean it will work tomorrow.

What are your future plans for your startup?

In 2023, QYOU will continue developing campaigns for brand partners and expand into new advertising categories.

We will expand our capacity to develop and curate more content for our brand partners as the need for on-going social content has become pivotal for brands ongoing communication with their customers and marketing efforts.

Lastly, as e-commerce adoption continues to grow, QYOU will focus our content studio and media buying practice on direct-to-consumer brands and content opportunities.

If you had to share, “words of wisdom,” with a Founder who’s about to start their own startup, what would they be?

Find balance to make the whole process work effectively. Your health, relationships and spirituality need to be cultivated along and integrated with your work. If not, you risk losing meaning.
