As we know, the COVID crisis has dramatically increased the movement of businesses from a primary brick-and-mortar focus to the online world. We all know e-commerce is where the action is today. For business owners in our region who have gone online or for those thinking of moving their business online, either in part or entirely, we sought advice from an expert to give us some guidance and tips on how to make sure we outperform the competition.

We’ve got Jason Junge, founder and CEO of PointerTop, a leading provider of online marketing and website sales conversion tools.

Jason, break it down for us: what do we need to focus on most specifically to make sure we outsell the competition online?

So, you need to focus on making your transactions and your customer service as fast, as convenient and as targeted as possible for users and your customers. So that means embedding tools, processes into your website, into your landing pages that makes that experience customized and personalized and immediate. So, the first tool that you need to put into your website is one that allows you to interact with your users directly. That would mean adding things, such as chats or chat bots. You want to be able to deal with them directly and immediately, and not telling them to offload to another channel. Another thing is adding other tools, such as the ability to schedule an appointment directly through your website, rather than having to call you. And the other is adding Google Maps so that they can easily find where you are. Remember, people online are very impatient. They’ve grown accustomed to the idea of things being readily available and immediate.

The most important thing is really to make it convenient to customers.

So, there you have it. To succeed online, you have to do more than just show up. Optimize your customer’s user experience by making it convenient and efficient.
