I had the pleasure of interviewing Jay Surovy, the Founder and CEO of TangibleCodes. Jay has been working with technology companies since 2010. Ever since he saw the first iPhone, he knew he wanted to work with technology companies. However, at that time, it was difficult to find a job in the tech industry due to the economic recession. So, he decided to force himself into the industry by creating a startup on his own to gain his first experience. Since then, he has worked with many Silicon Valley startups, as well as companies like Intel, where he managed 20 software developers. Now, he has his own tech agency and works with companies like Official, which was recently sold to Bumble.

What motivated you to launch your tech agency?

I have seen many other agencies do a bad job. They usually hire a few senior developers who can fix bugs after the junior developers, which results in bad service. I wanted to create an agency where we only hire the best of the best, like a professional sports team, where the developers are well taken care of and can also do great work. This approach earned us company shares in the Official Project.

What excites you about what you’re building?

We are working on a lot of cool projects right now. The most exciting part for me is finding the perfect match between client and developer because then the client loves what we do, and the developer loves their job. I get to create a little bit of heaven for everyone.

What has been your biggest challenge when growing your tech agency?

It’s really difficult to find the equilibrium between having a pipeline of new leads and available developers, and vice versa.

What are your future plans for your tech agency?

We are currently exploring new internal projects with AI. Eventually, we would like to focus on a specific niche where we will excel. Currently, we have 5 crypto projects in our portfolio, so maybe this would be an avenue we will explore.

If you had to share “words of wisdom” with a Founder who’s about to start their own startup, what would they be?

I have worked with many startup founders, and what I have learned is that you need the right amount of delusion, but you also need to keep reality in check. I personally blew $400k of my own money on a startup that never took off. I thought that if you do something long enough, the results will come. Well, they did come, but as a side product that I now call TangibleCodes. Also, build a skill that you can prove and that can be your signature strength. Then you can always rely on that skill no matter what happens.

How can our readers follow you on social media?

Ideally, Linkedin which can be found here: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jayjurajsurovy/

This was very insightful. Thank you so much for joining us!
