Singaporean deep tech startup Zero-Error Systems (ZES) successfully raises $7.5 million in Series A funding round. The investment comes from notable participants, including the Dart Family Office and Airbus Ventures.
ZES specializes in providing high-reliability semiconductor solutions for space and power management applications. The funding will support the company’s global sales and marketing initiatives, expedite its product roadmap, and cater to the increasing demand for radiation protection, power reliability, and data integrity solutions.
These solutions are specifically designed to meet the requirements of Low Earth Orbit satellites, deep space rovers, and landers, as well as various power management applications both in space and on Earth. The successful funding round will enable ZES to expand its reach and enhance its position as a key player in the industry.
The new funding secured by Zero-Error Systems (ZES) will further support the company’s research and development activities in Singapore. Additionally, it will facilitate customer design-in activities on a global scale.
As the demand for application-rich satellites and high-precision space robots for lunar and Mars missions continues, ZES recognizes the significance of hardware and semiconductor innovations in enabling advanced functionalities.
These innovations are crucial in providing the necessary processing power, ensuring reliability in extreme environments, and maximizing power efficiency in energy-constrained satellites. By focusing on these areas, ZES aims to contribute to the success of space missions and extend the lifespan of satellites in space.
Dr. Shu Wei, Chief Technology Officer and Co-Founder of ZES emphasizes the importance of addressing power reliability and data integrity concerns in satellite electronics systems. Many aerospace companies currently rely on Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) semiconductor devices, which are not designed to withstand the harsh conditions of space.
Dr. Wei highlights how ZES’s patented radiation-hardening technologies safeguard COTS semiconductor devices from malfunctions, providing essential protection and ensuring the reliability of satellite operations. ZES, a university spin-off from Nanyang Technological University Singapore, was founded in 2019 by a group of accomplished professionals with deep expertise in the semiconductor industry and integrated circuit design. This team comprises veterans who comprehensively understand semiconductor device characteristics, radiation scenarios, and the essential mechanisms required for radiation-hardened properties.
With their expertise, ZES focuses on providing high-reliability semiconductor integrated circuits (ICs) and reliability testing services. These offerings enable enhanced functionality, cost reduction, extended lifespan, and improved power efficiency for space missions and various power management applications.
Khor Hwai Lin, Vice President of Business Development and Strategy at ZES, emphasizes the company’s pioneering role in developing radiation-hardened semiconductor solutions and its significant contribution to Singapore’s tech landscape.
