Welcome to another edition of our new newsletter! You’ll receive the best practical startup advice straight to your inbox every week.

In this week’s edition, we talk about creating landing pages that print money (not literally, of course), going from YouTuber to founder, and overcoming the problems associated with being a solo founder.

We also launched a Call for Submissions for our Crypto Handbook, which you can read here. We’ve got some of best crypto-related writers along for the ride, like Arthur Hayes (his latest is on the Luna crash), and we’d love to share your journey into all things crypto, blockchain and NFT.

How to create landing pages that print money

Jon Brosio is a creator, writer and founder of the Tribe Loyal University. The course has had over 4,500 students enrol thanks to a) a good offering and b) an even better landing page. If you’re a creator with something to sell, Jon shared some of the best strategies to use, including:

  • Always chose clear outcome & clear timeframe over trying-to-hard-to-be-smart copy that’ “unique” and “intriguing.”
  • Use no-code automation to bag testimonials and increase social proof (which increases sales from your landing page).
  • Deploy the decoy effect with your pricing, offering low, middle and high-tiered options. Users will almost always chose the middle.
  • Share your earned credibility front and centre (featured in, endorsed by) to build trust with potential buyers.

How to go from Youtuber to $3 million annual revenue

Sam King also known as Sam King FTW joined us on the Entrepreneur’s Handbook podcast this week. He found viral success as a YouTuber when he was just 16 and it was his full-time gig for 5 years. Now he’s founded Flick.Tech which has already reached $3M ARR.

In this insightful episode you’ll learn:

  • How to know when to quit even when something is doing well if it doesn’t align with your values.
  • Hire people because you believe in them rather than for a specific role in a fast-growing start-up.
  • Define each co-founder's role to create a well-oiled machine.
  • Find out what your customers want more of and build it!

How to overcome the solo founder problem

Everyone will warn you against being a solo founder. But Aaron Dinin, PhD believes it’s not as impossible as you might think. He also believes there is a critical problem at play that needs to be overcome for solopreneuers to succeed:

  • Yes, it’s hard work and it’s lonely. But, these problems don’t actually explain why solo founders are less likely to succeed.
  • The real problem is a lack of balance and checks on their decision-making. Even the smartest people struggle to see the flaws in their logic.
  • Learning to make good decisions on your own is the make-or-break factor.
  • By staying connected with your customers, you can make your decisions in partnership with them.
