I had the pleasure of interviewing David Ghodsizadeh, the founder of Storytelling 4 Success, who is empowering technical professionals to unlock their full potential through leadership storytelling. David is a seasoned marketer with a rich background in the high-tech industry, most notably at Samsung Electronics, and received formal storytelling training from world renowned coaches. After perfecting a workplace storytelling framework, David began coaching clients in 2016 as a freelancer and then started Storytelling 4 Success in 2022. His impressive client portfolio consists of professionals from a diverse range of industries including leading software companies, electronics manufacturers, medical providers, consulting firms, and educational institutions.

What motivated you to launch your startup?

Launching Storytelling 4 Success was deeply motivated by my passion for helping others reach their full potential. I have always believed that every individual has a unique story to tell. By unlocking the art of storytelling, I saw the opportunity to empower leaders to connect authentically, inspire their teams, and elevate their leadership impact. The driving force? Workforce dynamics are shifting after COVID-19, which means that people transformation and leadership development are higher priorities for businesses to accelerate innovation and thrive through uncertainty.

What is it that excites you about what you’re building?

The ripple effect of leadership storytelling is what genuinely excites me. Having experienced its life-changing impact personally, I am on a mission to share this gift with millions. It is a privilege to witness people achieve remarkable milestones — from landing dream jobs to navigating complex career advancements — all powered by their unique storytelling superpowers.

What has been your biggest challenge when growing your startup?

There is still skepticism among some technical professionals as to the relevancy and impact of storytelling. Many believe that hard skills matter more than soft skills. Hard skills matter up to a point, but storytelling is among the rarest and most impactful assets for career advancement and leadership opportunities this decade.

What are your future plans for your startup?

My vision is to impact the career journeys of one thousand professionals through storytelling by 2025. This ambitious goal drives me to introduce new online course offerings globally and form strategic partnerships with businesses that may be interested in storytelling training for their workforce.

If you had to share, “words of wisdom,” with a Founder who’s about to start their own startup, what would they be?

For aspiring founders, start small and be hyper-focused on one audience. Fully understand and solve their unique pain points and challenges before scaling your operations. Building a business is more like a marathon than a sprint. First, you need a solid foundation.

How can our readers follow you on social media?

I recommend readers follow me on LinkedIn. There they can subscribe to my biweekly newsletter, The Storyteller’s Spotlight.

This was very insightful. Thank you so much for joining us!
