Good morning, Paul!

Entrepreneurship can be lonely and there are always a million challenges that can make the path to success difficult at best. And while we all know that coaching and mentoring can be a godsend in providing guidance, solutions, connections, resources or even just to be a sounding board to prop us up when we need it most.

But coaches and mentors are expensive and therefore not a practical solution for most of us.

Right?

Nope.

Here’s an amazing resource for anyone out there needing coaching, needing guidance or mentoring: you can tap them right away and the amazing thing is it’s all free and its high-quality coaching and mentoring.

The program is offered through SCORE and that stands for Service Corps of Retired Executives, and you know what, simply put, tapping them as a huge score, indeed for small businesses. They provide this much needed coaching. And again, the cost, well it’s free.

How do they do this? While they get financial support from the SBA matched by contributions of more than 10,000 dedicated volunteers and those volunteers do the coaching. And the volunteers doing the coaching, well, they’re about the highest quality you can get. These are retired executives who have achieved success in their own right, and now, because they believe in the power of entrepreneurship and following on the heels of their own personal success, they simply want to give back and help others achieve what they’ve achieved.

SCORE, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and a resource partner of the U.S. Small Business Administration, describes themselves as the nation’s largest network of volunteer expert business mentors, and they’re dedicated to helping small businesses get off the ground, grow and achieve their goals.

They’ve been doing it since 1964 and they’ve provided education and mentorship to more than 11 million entrepreneurs.

So, look, if you’re in need of a little guidance, a little support, a sounding board, check out SCORE at score.org and enlist a mentor or a coach from them today to help you realize your small business goals.

I’m Jeff Sloan, founder and CEO of StartupNation.com, and that’s today’s Business Beat on the Great Voice of the Great Lakes, WJR.
