Community of Cultivators

Here at GCUC we are immensely fortunate to cross paths and work with so many amazing people. Through our work, we’ve cultivated a global community of people we think you should know about.

Community of Cultivators is a blog series we created to introduce you to coworking game changers and connectors. Each month, we’ll release new interviews that we hope inform and inspire you.

This week we are coming at you with one of the largest coworking players in Australia. Tobi Skovron is the founder of Creative cubes (along with several other brands) and is making waves. We met Tobi when we were in Sydney recently and were instantly smitten. Give his answers a read.

Tobi SkovronName: Tobi Skovron
Title and space: Founder of Creative Cubes

What in your life are you most proud of cultivating or creating? Why?

For me its less about what and more about why. As a husband I’m proud of my wife, she’s taught me a lot & as a father I’m proud of how my kids act and hold themselves with manners and care.

On the business front I’m proud of just going after it. Relentless in pursuit of the vision. I feel alive executing and driving my team and company to higher places skill wise, competency wise, together as one unified team.

What podcast would you recommend to others and why?

So many different ones. I think listening to only one limits your lens. My leadership team (primarily my head of People & Culture, Shardae Mazzeo) constantly feeds me with vlogs, and pods to listen to. If I’m not on a conference call, I use travel time to listen to it all.

This includes:

  • Gary Vee
  • Tony Robins
  • Simon Sinek
  • Reed Hoffman
  • Time Ferris
  • Nathan Chan – Foundr

To name a few, but not exclusively.

What is one piece of advice you give everyone that works with and/or for you?

DO YOUR THING!

…Focus on what you can control.
…Be world class at it
…Flex and absorb the impacts, but stay hyper focused

Do NOT get caught up in things you can’t control.

If you had $500 to spend- what would you buy?

2-7 pairs of Nike’s

What advice would you give to someone thinking of becoming an entrepreneur?

I’m not sure you become an entrepreneur. I think you are or you are not one. If you are, come on out and embrace it…do your thing!

That said, just listen twice as much as you talk and execute on everything you can absorb from listening.

What is the best habit you ever started?

OrangeTheory.
Day I go (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) my days are on fire. I execute with clarity and going to the 5 or 6am session I have incredible momentum going into the day.
