The Angel Capital Association was honored to have Martha Miller of the Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation (U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission) participate in ACA 2020 – The Summit of Angel Investing.   Martha’s fireside chat, Vision Critical – Breaking News With the SEC, discussed timely updates, trends, and perspectives about how COVID-19 is impacting raising capital, crowdfunding, and strategies to bridge networks.  The Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation recently responded to the insightful comments posted during ACA 2020 with an open invitation to continue the dialogue by providing feedback and ideas.  The Office seeks to continue building relationships and understanding with the angel community in their recent response to ACA:

Our SEC Office of the Advocate for Small Business Capital Formation thoroughly enjoyed this session and we look forward to continuing to engage with ACA and your individual members!  We very much appreciated the interest ACA members expressed in the Commission’s proposed changes to the Accredited Investor Definition and the Capital Formation Proposal that seeks to harmonize and improve the exempt offering framework.  ACA’s comment letters such as this one on the Accredited Investor Definition are very helpful as SEC staff and the Commission work toward adopting final rules, and we encourage all interested parties to submit comments with your feedback on these proposals as well!  Comment letters do not need to be long or formal – even a simple email on any aspect of a proposal will be read and taken into account in developing the final rules.  We want to hear how the changes would impact you, your investment decisions, and the small businesses in which you invest.
