AMOpportunities (Dreamit HealthTech S2019) Announces $2.2 Million Series A Round

AMOpportunities (Dreamit HealthTech S2019) recently closed a $2.2 million Series A round of financing. Existing investors OCA Ventures, HealthX Ventures, Wildcat LLC, M25 Group, and The University of Chicago participated in the round.

The U.S. healthcare system faces an unprecedented shortage of physicians. For example, The Association of Medical Colleges predicts that by 2030 there will be a shortage of between 42,600 and 121,300 doctors in the United States.

AMOpportunities aims to fix this problem by offering on-demand clinical rotation opportunities to thousands of international medical students. The company’s platform facilitates program administration by vetting applicants’ credentials and processing payments.

International medical students need clinical experience in the United States and letters of recommendation from U.S.-based physicians to pursue residency and fellowship opportunities here. By giving international students the chance to gain clinical experience in the U.S. and work with top doctors, AMOpportunities ensures they will have a fair shot at joining the best post-graduate medical training programs and becoming licensed doctors here.

“To thrive, the American healthcare system needs doctors from all over the world,” says Kyle Swinsky, CEO of AMOpportunities. “Without these international trainees, the U.S. will experience a devastating physician shortage. We need these international physicians to ensure our healthcare system survives. Diversity and immigration will only make our country stronger.”

To date, AMOpportunities has helped more than 2,500 medical school graduates from over 75 countries participate in the 200+ clinical rotations offered through its platform. With the new funding, AMO plans to continue scaling its clinical visitor program by expanding it to new U.S. hospitals and international medical schools.
